In light of the recent report published by Consumer Reports, EKEN first wants to clarify that all our video doorbell products come with an FCC identifier. Given the compact design of our doorbells, it was not practical to include the FCC compliance statement in a sufficiently large font directly on the device itself. To ensure compliance and transparency, we have prominently displayed the FCC symbol on either the product packaging or a removable label attached to the product. Additionally, we have included the FCC ID and detailed information regarding compliance with FCC Rules 47 CFR 15.19(a) in the electronic user manual, accessible via a QR code provided in the printed manual. In response to feedback, EKEN is taking steps to further enhance accessibility to this information by including the FCC ID on both the packaging and in the printed user manual for all future products, to the extent possible.
With regard to the issue of the serial number mentioned in the report published by Consumer Reports, EKEN wants to clarify that possessing the serial number alone is not sufficient for an attacker to remotely access images from our video doorbell products, as their addresses have been securely protected with random numbers. We have also implemented a robust anti-brute-force attack mechanism to prevent any guessing attacks.
Eken has recently updated its software firmware to version 2.3.3 or higher, which we believe sufficiently protects the safety and privacy of our consumers. For the update process to initiate and complete successfully, it is crucial to keep the consumers’ device connected to the internet. Eken has a dedicated R&D team and a robust and through R&D process to ensure our consumers’ privacy and safety are protected. Eken will continue to actively communicate with Consumer Reports to address any additional questions and concerns they may have.
